Need help update to R5A

Hi,

I've got one Tablet S1(with 3G) one year ago. (I come from China mainland.)

Considering China version firmwares do not include GApps but I DO need the stuff like play store, contact sync, etc, I change the region code to UK.

Then, I made it updated to R2 and rooted via AIO tool by condi(THANK YOU!)

Now, I want the R5A update. I've downloaded several 3G version stock firmwares but failed to install them.

Everytime the tablet reboots to the recovery attempting to install the update, the whole will be aborted after the verification.

And, it shows "Erohibit update as a result of checking version or base sku" each time.

I've made multiple tries, and failed every time.

Never make it via OTA, AIO tool or flasher by condi. All failed.

Not even I changed the region to China(what it was initially).

What do I do to make an successful update?

P.S. I used to apply something like "hack recovery" or what from the AIO tool, would it break the recovery?

[Q] Confused and Need HELP WITH ROOTING MY NEW TABLET S

Hey guys,
I bought my tablet s in April and wanted to root it at that time, but that time the rooting technique for release 5a wasn't known and now I read somewhere that it is again possible to root it. Please I want some help regarding this. I want you guys to clarify this confusion that I am having. "I*WANT TO ASK ULTIMATELY THAT IS IT POSSIBLE TO ROOT THE SONY TABLET S AND UPGRADE IT TO JELLY BEAN" . I also wanna ask that is there a stock jellybean custom rom available? Please reply ASAP

Seems like Sony discontinued the Xperia Tablet S

Buying a Sony Tablet S finally!!!

Hello everyone!
I finally saved enough to buy a tablet and after about a week of reading reviews and watching feature videos, I made up my mind to go for the Sony Tablet S (3G +WiFi) (Model:SGPT113IN). This is my first foray into the android world. I wouldn't root it immediately. I need to get a little bit familiar with all the slang and technical terms used around here. I can see though, that a senior member, Condi,is doing a great job. My hats off to him.
True this tablet is not the best. There never will be the best tablet! Not even the so called great iPad and Samsung families don't deserve that title. There is always something lacking, something too low, some features too less....but given all the facilities in this neat tablet like:
SD Card - fine with me...doesn't bother me.
USB Host - a plus point for me!
WiFi - Can't live without it :D Don't need to be a 100Mbps or something more....highest achievable speed for our OFC is 2 Mbps.
Bluetooth - Won't be using much except for sending few jpeg files rarely) 3G (yay!)
The Design - Cool and stands out a lot in the mad world of tablets. Btw, I am really fed up of all the similar and boring plain looking tablets out there ;)
GPS - I don't exactly know whether it is an AGPS (Assisted GPS) which needs 3G data or the real GPS hardware (not needing data connectivity)
The Size - 9.4' (1280 x 800) is somewhere in the sweet spot for me. Not too big...not too small.
The IR Blaster - the scale tipper in my decision making.
The Sound - Stereo (yay!) if you are thinking the sound is too low....let me say that it is for my personal use...don't intend to use it in parties ;)
The Battery - Long charging time and short Battery life doesn't bother me as I am not living inside a cave. Not traveling much either.
Memory, Processor & Multitasking Performance - Suits me fine...I am not expecting it to perform like a workstation or a Core i7 CPU machine. I will use it mainly for social apps, light browsing, listening to audiobooks/music on my way to and from my office. A little bit of games/entertainment/educational app my wife and my daughter can play/use during weekends.

These are just from my point of view...my two cents...hope i have not offended any samsung/apple fan. Leave comments and share your thoughts please!!

[Q] Am I Blind Or Is This Tablet Boring

$

So I brought the Sony Tablet S last year and I am now bored of it. I mean I've have had some fun controlling the projector in my maths class and my maths teacher had no idea what was going on (that was fun :) ) but because of its age and how locked up Sony makes their products and even though you are able to root it on Android 4.0.4 and things like that but I have become bored with a device I own that I am unable to change the ROM on or mod it to make it more functional due to it's lack of developer support and/or ROM developments.

So please tell me if I am right in saying that this tablet is boring or is it that I am just not able to find interesting things to do with this tablet?

Thanks,
Mitchell.

Why do HD movies lag and any possible fix for it?

I just hate the Sony tablet s for one reason the stock gallery app is pathetic when it comes to video playback so to make matters better I use the mx player which has served its cause pretty well ,it is the best available video player but still the tablet has hard time running 1080p videos and also 720p .Before the tablet s I possessed the blackberry playbook which had similar specifications and used to run high res videos like a charm . Is it due to poor software optimization or is there some other reason ? I'd truly appreciate if anyone can help me in this case

OTA Downgrade Idea

$

I was thinking about this for a while and decided to put this idea out.
So the OTA zip in default is encrypted which I assume you can encrypt it with Condi's tool.
What if we decrypt it with desklunvr.exe, find SKUList in the META-INF folder within the zip, you can change the SKU values in that file to the matching ones you have on your device, this will not count up or anything so you will have to type in the SKUs in order which are all matched in the android versions which you can choose from, after that's done you can just decrypt it with Condi's tool but the problem is now that Sony uses a special signing tool with some type of signing type, I'm not sure if it is platform but you can try with ZipSigner.

What do you think about this idea?, post anything below that would be useful or something. ;)

On the 1st and the 2nd of September we will discuss on Hangouts about how are we going to get to flash custom ROMs and other stuff such has exploiting/bypassing the bootloader and/or boot process and more.
So how do you join in?, PM me your email address with the subject "STBD" and I shall start the discussion on that day.
When?, on the 1st it would be all day but of course you would have to eat so we would have to have a break there and then get back on, on the 2nd it would be 9AM GMT+01:00 to any time at night.
You can really join on every Saturday and Sunday after that but it is to just keep it in the same pace.

box.com 50gb promo

Just noticed that all Xperia devices are eglible for free 50GB upgrade for your box.com account. I just installed box.net to my Xperia Tablet S and blam, got 50 GB upgrade for lifetime  Apparently this has been running since 2011:

https://support.box.com/entries/2226...-promotion-faq

I NEVER saw any advertisement about this when I bought my XTS nor I have ever seen this mentioned anywhere. So it was quite a surprise, pleasant one. Together with free 50GB for Dropbox (Samsung device) I have plenty of cloud storage now :)

Decided to share this just in case somebody missed this offer, at least you get something good out of XTS...
